Quilt Block of the Month
for
February, 1999
Block #2
Treasure Box
February brings with it the sounds of Love and
friendship. What a treasure this month is. So I have selected
the "Treasure Box" block to begin the wonders
that come with the sounds of love attached.
* please make note that many of the fabric requirement are cut a bit larger than actually needed. This will make it easier to square up the various pieces in each block.
fabric requirements:
1 - 2 `3/4 " square light fabric (c)
5 - 2 3/4" squares medium fabric (c)
4 - 2 1/4" squares medium fabric (d)
4 - 2 3/4 " squares medium dark fabric (c)
2 - 3 1/2 " squares dark fabric (b)
4 - 2 3/4 " squares dark fabric ( c)
cut all squares on the diagonal
* letters on end of each fabric will help with the layouts below
Step # 1
1. Following the diagram below sew together : a medium (c) triangle to two medium dark (c) triangles. Use a medium triangle (d) and sew to the out sides. See diagram below:
2. Make 2 of this unit
Step #3
1. Following the diagram below sew together 2 medium dark triangles (c) to each side of 1 light triangle (c). Attach a medium (d) triangle. Sew on each side a medium (d) triangle as shown below:
2. Make two units.
Step # 3
1. Sew each unit together as shown in the diagram below. This
will make the center square.
Step # 4
1. Sew together two medium triangles (c) to one dark triangle as shown below. (c)
2. Make 4 units
3. Sew each of these units to the 4 sides of the center square. Follow the diagram below:
Step # 5
1. Now sew the dark larger triangles to the outside edges to make a square block. See diagram below:
Step # 6
1. Square up to 8 1/2".
You now have completed this fun block for February. The
second block for February will be available in two weeks.
