In the Old Testament Book of Joshua,
one reads of the ancient city of Jericho which was conquered by the Hebrews
under the direction of their leader Joshua. the city had been built
with a great wall around it. Jericho was so overpopulated that houses
had to be built even on that wall. Joshua, under divine guidance,
led the Jewish people to shout and blow trumpets, making such loud noise
that the wall fell down flat, enabling them to over- take the city.
The outer strips of this
block could represent the walls, with the intersecting cross again representing
the divine powers that led Joshua and his people to the city.
