I hope you are enjoying this Christmas quilting experience.
The most wonderful part of the project is the "mystery" that you will individually
be doing as you allow your creative juices to flow... Embellishments for
this project are all of your own choosing... and you are encouraged to
do so.
This installment will be a very simple installment. I hope
you continue to enjoy this project.
Now that you have completed Installment #1 , Installment #2 , Installment #3 and Installment #4 you are now ready to proceed with the next installment.
Step #1.
In this step you will be making a
variety of rows... the final dimension of each row will measure 4 1/2"
x 25".
Because of the way I am instructing you
the rows will come out longer than the required 25" in length. don't
be concerned about this at this time...
1. You will need to cut several 4 1/2" x 45" strips of your light background fabric. The number depends on just how closely to the 25" horizontal dimension you work with... so I suggest that you only cut one strip at a time as you work along. You will also require at least 1 45" x 4 1/2" strip of the midground green fabric. You may need more or if you have any strips left from earlier installments use them when applicable.
(*note: when I was designing this project this was one area that I made a number of mistakes in measurements. So while re-working the pattern design I discovered the method I am giving you an easier way to insure accuracy the first time around. I found out also it was best to make each row a bit larger than the 25" then trim off later. )
A. Row #1:
2. Pull out the triangles that you made
in Installment #2, step 4.

3. Use the diagram below as a guide for each of the sections to follow:

6. Follow these same instructions inserting a piece of green in-between each of the triangles. Complete each sections as described in #3.
Step # 2. Row requirements:
1. Row #2. background strip + triangle + 5" x 4 1/2" green + triangle + background strip.
2. Row #3. Background strip + triangle + 8 1/2" x 4 1/2" green + triangle + background strip.
3. Row #4. Background strip + triangle + 12 1/2" x 4 1/2" green + triangle + background strip.
(again align up from the center so that equal amounts of the background fabric is on each side. Cut ends of rows so that they are at least 25" total.. this gives you room for future alignments and any possible errors in cutting)
Step #3.
1. Cut 1 - 25" x 7" piece of your light background fabric.
Set aside for now.
This is all for installment #5. WE
are almost there... Installment #6 will complete the mystery with out a
doubt. SO be prepared for a very busy installment. This installment
will be available on November 14, 1998. See you then!
