installment #6
November 14, 1998
Mystery Solved!!!!!
There are two parts to this installment.  I divided it this way to provide you a variety of ways to finish your quilt!!!!

Now that you have completed  Installment #1 Installment #2  , Installment #3  , Installment #4  and  Installment #5   you are now ready to proceed with this  installment.

Well here we are at the end of this mystery.   I know that many of you have already figured out the mystery... There are still a few surprises installed here for your quilting surprise!

Step #1  Assembling the Mystery!!!

1.  Row assembly:  From installment #1, starting at the top sew together row #1 and row #3.
2.  Row assembly:  From installment #5 continuing from the previous rows sew now rows #1, 2, 3, and 4.
3.  Row assembly:  From installment #1 add as next row row #2.
4.  Row assembly:  From installment #5 add the row from step #3.

Surprise!!!!!

Step #2.
1.  Appliqué the 4 sets of bells on each side of the tree in the upper portion.  Set the first ones just below the Star
at the top and the next two underneath them.  This is a great place to add some decorative stitching around
     these appliquéd pieces.

Step #3.  Quilting:

1.  At this time you should press the finished Christmas tree.  Using a spray starch or other stabilizer is suggested.
Keep in mind this wall hanging is dimensional and will have a good deal of weight to support. Stabilizing the
quilt at this time will add more strength.

2.  Pick out a marvelous fabric for the back of your wall hanging.  Using  a medium weight batting, sandwich all 3
components and quilt together.  I machine quilted at 1" intervals to give more strength and support for the
     embellishments

3.   Because of the quilting you will of course lose some length and width to your finished quilt.  At this time square
off and remove any excess fabric and batting.

4.  Use a narrow binding to bind off the quilt.

 5.  Make a hanging sleeve on the back of the quilt so you can hang your quilt with ease or make loops of your
favorite holiday fabrics and attach along top boarder.  (for my own I made a sleeve on the back at the top).

 Merry Christmas!!!

Now you can go onto the conclusion of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas!
