installment #6   Part #2 Embellishments
November 14, 1998
Mystery Solved!!!!!

Now that you have completed  Installment #1 Installment #2  , Installment #3  , Installment #4 , Installment #5  and the first part of  Installment #6  you are now ready to proceed with this, the second part of installment # 6.

For this part, the finishing touches, we will be working with all the embellishments made in earlier installments. So bring out all those extra buttons and bows and lets see just what we can come up with.  Of course I will show you what I have done with my own quilt.  All of the procedures done in this part are done by hand...  So needle and thread are necessary.

 Step #1.

1.  To insure proper placement of all your embellishments it is advised that you pin or loosely tack each item to the
      tree.

2.  Tack on the chains you made earlier to the top 4 rows of the tree... (none on the bottom row).  From the top:
      a.  row 1 - 1st.  of 3" links - no looping
      b.  row 2 - 2nd. of 3" links - loop to center
      c.  row 3 - 1st.  of 4" links  - loop with three loops  (see below on finished quilt)
      d. row 4 - 2nd   of 4" links - loop  with four loops

3.  Pin the 3" foundation ornaments you made in an arrangement that is most appealing to you.  I suggest that
the green ornaments be used on the bottom of the tree for contrast.

4.  Sew bright or decorative buttons beneath the placement of each ornament so that they can be attached to the
tree by slipping the ribbon loop over the buttons... The bright buttons will create a better illusion of lights.

5.   Arrange the 'gift bags'  (the mock draw string bags) at the base of the tree.  Over lap them if you like.  I only
used a few at this time on my quilt as I want to be able to add some 'special goodies' in the bags for the special
kiddies that come by for the holidays.

6.   Become creative with buttons and beads that will add lights or additional ornaments for your wall hanging.
Ribbons can also add a great deal of fun to you quilt.    You may also want to include those special photos of
      loved ones as ornaments....
( I also added such things a pine cones. bows and additional beads to my own composition.)

7.  Be sure to sign your quilt and date it for future references.

Step #2.

Have a Happy and safe Holiday Season!
