Fabric Requirements:
 *  Yellow:                   1 - 6 1/2" square
                                    1 - 2" x 16" strip
 *  Light brown:          1 - 2" x 14" strip
 * Medium Brown:     1 - 2" x 14" strip
                                    1 - 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" square
 * Dark brown:           1 - 2" x 16" strip
                                    1- 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" square
Rust:                       2 - 4 1/2"x 4 1/2" squares
 

Block Color layout:

 Sewing block together:
making four patch:
1.  with right sides together sew together the yellow and dark brown 2" x 16" strips.  Press seams  to darker color.

2. cut into 2" pieces.  You will have 8 -  yellow/dark brown pieces. sew together to make a 4 patch. The 4 patch should be squared up to measure 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" square.

half square triangles:

1.  Using the 4 1/2" squares place fronts together rust/light brown and rust/ medium brown.
     Mark pencil lines across each pair as shown in the diagram below.

 2.  Sew as shown along outer pencil lines. Cut apart on all pencil lines. This will make you 8 half square
      triangles from each pair of color groups.  Press open each section and square up the half square triangles to
      2" squares.

3.   Cut the 14" strips of light brown and medium brown into 3 1/2" lengths.  Sew together as shown below:

4.  Sew the 2" half square triangles as shown below:

 Assembly:

1.  Using  diagram below as a guide assemble block.
