Woven Star

    The Month of November is a time of reflection for many of us.  The Woven Star Block is a block that brings me into a time of reflection and completion.  I think of all the harvest, the preparations and the sharing of the season, how we are 'woven' together.  I hope you find this simple to make block one that provides you an opportunity to share with each other, woven into  one.

fabric requirements

4 - 3 1/2" squares of light 

8 - 3 1/2" squares of dark 

2 - 4" squares of medium 

2 - 4" squares of light 
 
 

Step # 1  Make half square triangles

1.  Following  diagram #1 to make half square triangles.  Mark a pencil line across the diagonal of the
     squares.  Sew 1/4" on each  side of the pencil mark. Cut apart on the pencil line.  Press each square to the
     darker fabric.

Step # 2
1.  Make 4 - half square triangles  using the 4" squares of  and the 4" squares of 

2.  Press, then square up each half square triangle to 3 1/2".
 

Step #2: Assembly

1.   Align each square as shown below:

2.  Sew together in rows horizontally and vertically to complete the block.
