Peace and Plenty
November is the time when we take time out of our busy schedules
to give thanks and be greatful for the bounty and plenty that is ours.
This Block "Peace and Plenty" says it all.
fabric requirements:
8 - 3 1/2" light squares
8 - 3 1/2" dark squares
alternate fabric requirements:
8 - 3 1/2" light squares
6 - 3 1/2" medium squares
2 - 3 1/2" dark squares
* please make note that many of the fabric
requirement are cut a bit larger than actually needed. This will
make it easier to square up the various pieces in each block.
Step # 1 make half square triangles:
1. Following diagram #1 to make half square triangles.
Mark a pencil line across the diagonal of the 3 1/2"
squares. Sew 1/4" on each
side of the pencil mark. Cut apart on the pencil line. Press each
square to the
darker fabric. Square up eachsquare
to 2 1/2" each.
2. Make half square triangles using:
fabrics # 1. Use 8 light and 8 dark squares
(makes 16 units)
fabrics # 2. a. Use 6 light and 6 medium
(make 12 units)
b. Use 2 light and 2 dark (makes 4 units)
Step # 2
1. Line up 2 1/2" half squares triangles as shown below for variation #1.


3. Sew each row together vertically and then horizontally
4. Square up to 8 1/2".
