Block # 2

Next-Door Neighbor

 * please make note that many of the fabric requirement are cut a bit larger than actually needed.  This will make it easier to square up the various pieces in each block.

fabric requirements:
6 - 3 1/2" light squares
2 - 3 1/2" medium squares
4 - 2 1/2" dark squares
4 - 3 1/2" dark squares
 

Step # 1
 

1.  Following  diagram #1 to make half square triangles.  Mark a pencil line across the diagonal.  Sew 1/4" on each
     side of the pencil mark. Cut apart on the pencil line.  Press each square to the darker fabric.  Square up each
     square to 2 1/2" each.

2.  Make half square triangles using these color combinations:
     a.  4 - 3 1/2" light squares to 4 - 3 1/2" dark squares (make 8 units)
     b.  2 - 3 1/2" light squares to 2 - 3 1/2" medium squares (make 4 units)

Step # 2

1.  Line up the 2 1/2" squares and the 2 1/2" half square triangles as shown below:



2.  Sew together in rows vertically and horizontally to complete the block.
 

3. Square up to 8 1/2".
