Mystery Quilt
Installment # 3
What a day this is turning out to be!  Yesterday was sunny and bright and a perfect day for a Wedding!  My niece got married last night and the wedding was filled with surprises!  The greatest of these I was able to pull off by having my Uncle come in from California and no one know he was coming.  He didn't get in until after the cerimony itself.  I carried a pager and cell phone so I could be contacted the moment they arrived.  They of course arrived right in the middle of the cerimony at my house and I couldn't answer the page. So 4 pages later I was able to make a quick and unnoticed get-a-way and flew back to my house(3 miles away from the hall), and bought my Uncle and Aunt back to the wedding reception.  His sisters we so overwhelmed at this surprise walking in the door that it is one of those priceless moments in life. The bride and groom were thrilled with the surprise.  This is one of those special times.
I almost thought I would not get this installment up in time, but now that I am unwinding and my Uncle and Aunt are off visiting some of the other family members I am taking this time to get things up for all of you.
Today it is raining and raining and raining.  Definitly NOT a perfect day for a wedding today but it is a good day for quilting!!!

It is my hope that you will find this installment to be easy enough.   Please be sure that you have the corrected measurement from step #3 part 6 to cut at     1-1/2".
I also hope you are enjoying the new diagram layouts.  I am having a lot of fun trying this new process for this mystery quilt!  If you have not completed  installment #1, and  installment #2 , please do so at this time before going on to this installment.
Now it is time to go on to installment #3

Step #1.  Cutting instructions:

Using the same cutting instructions as provided in installment #1, cut the same number of pieces as described in step #1 through step #3.  You will need the same number of pieces and cuts as in installment #1.

Step #2.  Assembly:

1.  Following diagram #6 below, lay out your pieces in stacks of 72 or 94 depending on the size you have chosen.

2.  The color alignment for this step, as shown in the top row of the diagram, should be color #3, #1, #3, #3, #2, #3.
The colors in second row in the diagram should be, color #3, #2, #3, #3, #1, #3.

*just a reminder:  be sure that you are cutting your pieces for the rectangles in the oppsite directions!

3.  Sew together your rows as you did in installment #1.

4.  Trim as necessary to have rows measuring 1 7/8" in height.

* note you may find it helpful as we go along to place each completed row in its own baggie and mark each baggie as installment #1 row 1 right, or row 1 left and so on as we go along. It is important to be able to identify each row as they are completed for future placement.
This completes installment #. 3

****** Yes, there will be other cutting instructions -:) and some exciting stuff to come! ************

The next installment will be posted for you  on May 4, 1998.   See you then!
