Think Spring Mystery Quilt
installment # 6

Well here it is early on Monday morning and I am going to try to get this installment done for all of you before the light of day starts to take a toll on my eyes.   With this experience , the eye surgery, I am again learning a new level of patience here :).
This weeks installment will again be a simple one. (Not that any of the installments will be difficult).  If you have not completed   step #1step #2 ,   step #3 ,   step #4 , and  step 5  you  will need to do so before progressing on to this step.

Looking things over here it is great to see how all the pieces are beginning to come together!  I know some of you may have already figured out the direction this project is taking while others of you are still finding the "mystery" of the quilt very challenging!  So lets get started on installment # 6!

*******  Oh My!!!!!! What do we all think about "frog" stitching?????  If you are anything like me you hate it!
Well leave it to me <sigh>.  I made another error.  In Step #5 you were asked to sew all 32 of the half
square triangles into the pointed sections...  Well I was "wrong" <again>.  It will be necessary for you to
"rip" out four of these sections so that you have 8 remaining half square triangles.  I apologize again for
this inconvenience to all of you.  What I am finding with these earlier sections is that I should have waited
until "after" my eye surgery to try to write out these instructions.  Maybe then I would have not been
making these silly errors.  Thank you for your understanding.  ( Now how's that for adding a bit of
            mystery to this puzzle). ************

Step #1.   Repairing my Opps!

1. Rip out the above mentioned 4 pointed sections put together in installment #5. Press them flat and set them
aside for now.  You should now have 8 of the  6 1/2" x 3 1/2" sections remaining.

Step #2.  Unit Assembly

1.  Using the "8"  6 1/2" x 3 1/2" units  made with the pink and white half square triangles  in step # 5, sew and assemble as shown in the diagram below.  This will give you 4 units as shown below.

...............................................................
....................................................................diagram #1
2.  Press with seams toward the darker fabrics.  Square up these units to 12 /12" x 3 1/2".  Set aside for now.

3.  Using the remaining 8 half square triangles <remember the ones I had you tear out earlier?> and the 8 - 3 1/2"
pink squares you cut in installment #1 sew them together as shown in the diagram below.  You will sew 4 units in
one direction then reverse the process sewing in the opposite direction as shown below.

............................................................
.................................diagram # 2....................diagram # 3
You should now have 8 of these units.

4.  Press toward darker fabric.  Square up these units to 6 1/2" x 3 1/2".  Set aside until next week.

This is all for this week.  Hopefully I have all the numbers correct this time... My spell checker catches all the misspelled words but of course it cannot catch any of the numeric errors.   Hopefully there won't be any more as we are getting closer and closer to solving this mystery.

please note I did correct the stitching error in installment #5 for anyone who is just now joining in the fun or for those of you who wish to copy the corrected information.  (don't you all wish I was like Inspector Clewsew??? then the clues would not be so mysterious?????)
