The Wedding

Danielle and Tom Ouellette
This is the story of  two very special people who have committed to sharing their lives together.  The story is like so many of promise and joy.  But this couple is different.  They are a couple with special needs.  They have the blessing to come into this marriage without any pretenses, no extra baggage and total honesty and trust in each other.  Both Danielle and Tom are mentally challenged adults that have blossomed in ways that are unimaginable to most of us.

Their lives started in very different ways with very different abilities and accomplishments.  Now there is nothing that they cannot accomplish together.

They met in Florida at the Loveland Center in Venice.  From the very beginning they worked together on a variety of different projects that would assist them in independent living skills.  Both of them are very active in the center and will continue to be active role models for those who presently are part of Loveland and for those who are to come.

A romance grew between them and for the last two years their love of each other grew and grew.  With the help and support of many people their dreams of a life together has become a reality.

I was privileged to know Dani since she was a young girl of 4 yrs. old.  Her mother and I became good friends.  Watching her grow up into the independent woman she is today has been a joy and a learning experience for me and every one who has ever come in contact with this special woman.

Dani told me about her Tom a couple of years ago and since then I have often been in awe of their growing love for each other.  Last summer I finally met and immediately fell in love with Tom.  It was evident from the very beginning they were a perfect match.  A match made in heaven.

So, when this couple decided to marry they went ahead to do all the things necessary for them to  be able to not only live independently but to trust in each other in a way most of us would envy.

And now I want to share with you some of the special moments of their special day!

The Pictures will speak for themselves!

Trying to sneak a couple pictures of Mother and daughter before the wedding was a treat.   This is one bride that was so cool and collect that it would put us all to shame!
Lynnette Brodie
What are sisters for????  Lynnette Brodie is Dani's younger sister and stood up as Matron of Honor for her sister at this special occasion.  I don't think Lynnette could have been prouder of her sister than she was on this special day.
Lynnette's continued support of Dani as they grew up was and continues to be an inspiration.  It was not that long ago that Lynnette shared with me that she could tell who would be a true friend based on how they treated her sister.  Many would not have possessed the strength to take this stand.  I love you Lynnette.

Matthew and Lynnette Brodie                                Anthony Brodie

This wedding like most was a family affair.   Lynnette's young sons Matthew and Anthony played vital roles in the wedding.  Matthew as a groom's man and Anthony as the ring bearer.   They are definitely handsome boys (aren't they).

Let the Party Begin!!!!
....  And what a party it was!  Somewhere around two hundred of us danced and laughed and partied into the evening as we celebrated the marriage of Dani and Tom.  Everyone there has a grand time.  For some it was a first experience at such a social function.  So many special people came to celebrate this marriage.  And many supportive family members and friends and support help all came together to share in this special day as a day of social rejoicing!  A night to be remembered by everyone.

Daddy's Little Girl                     The perfect Wedding Cake                                 A tasty treat

That first bite is alway a difficult one!
Of Course as with all weddings there was cake, bouquets, and garters, dancing and gifts.  Both young and old enjoyed the good food and friendship.

Danielle, Lynnette, and Maureen are sisters in the truest since of the word!  What better way to share this special evening.  Knowing who you can count on when you need that helping hand.

The party ended (sigh) and the feet ached and the party favors were everywhere... everyone went home with smiles on their faces and joy in their heart.  Dani and Tom are now on their honeymoon in Michigan and when they return will be coming home to their new home to begin their life together...

And they Lived Happily Ever After....
